The kernel gives a hint with the URL: http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#devicefirmware (fwcutter isn't included in Debian lenny anymore (it were in older Debian releases)). After installing this firmware the device is working without problem. - keyboard chooser doesn't have information about deadkeys, if you know about it its OK but else you can choose between LANG and LANG (nodeadkeys) - I cannot write my name with the default keyboard selection "LANG (nodeadkeys)". nodeadkeys shouldn't be the default - I wanted to setup a crypted home. d-i creates the partition (during partitioning) but didn't helped me with setting it up completly. I had to install the package "cryptsetup" myself (in tasksel I didn't choosed Desktop, only Standard) - after installation/reboot the system is running the following daemons which are not needed and are listening on all interfaces: portmap tcp(111) inetd tcp(113) rpc.statd tcp(high port) IMHO they are not needed in most cases and should be disabled or bound to localhost by default - for wireless and network-manager the user needs to be added manual into netdev as described in /usr/share/doc/network-manager-gnome/README.Debian IMHO this is a barrier for users who wants to install a laptop with wireless - sudo should be used by default instead of root account with password Thanks for reading until here.;) -- Please make sure that the hardware-summary log file, and any other installation logs that you think would be useful are attached to this report. - Subject: Closing old installation report #494067
- From: Christian Perrier <bubulle@debian.org>
- Date: Wed, 08 Sep 2010 03:58:45 +0000
- Message-id: <E1OtBo5-0006GP-85@ravel.debian.org>
We are closing this installation report for one of the following reasons: - it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian Installer. - indications in the installation report give the feeling that the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to D-I, which we can't easily identify. - indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component - it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-) - it has no information we consider useful The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet. In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be still present, please reiterate your installation test with a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this. You'll find daily builds at http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to install "squeeze" when prompted. If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent against installation-reports. Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian, past and present.
