Comments/Problems:

- During the "Install boot loader" step, the password asked for GRUB can't be typed twice to double-check, and after examining /boot/grub/menu.lst, it appears that the "password" option line set by the installer is :
password --md5
(i.e. : the salted md5 that should be there after --md5 is... empty ?!)

- I'd rather have eth0 as the wired ethernet, eth1 as the wireless ethernet card... my own preference
- In the console, after the post-install first boot, french accents like "é" or "è" are not displayed correctly : e+' ("é") showed as "\xc3\x89" and interpreted as u+^
I had selected fr_FR.UTF-8 as the default locale, and it is currently set in LANG, and LC_ALL il empty. Setting LC_ALL=fr_FR (ISO-8859-1), "locale" shows everything=fr_FR, but the accents are still showing as (other) wrong chars : e+' ("é") is showed as "\xc9", interpreted as "the female symbol".
- Perhaps lower the kernel messages verbosity in the console, by default ? dmesg -n 1
- At the end of the installation process, there should be a screen with a list of the installed/detected drivers that cannot work without downloading a firmware (i.e. : for wireless cards, perhaps it's possible to detect that a firmware is missing for the card to work, then notify the user about it)
- My hard disk installation layout was "encrypted LVM", and I chose "aurora" as the name of the LVM volume, but I think I read messages like "volume aurora not found" or "group aurora not found" while booting. Anyway, the boot was 100% OK
- Do an update-pciids after / before / during netinstall ? if needed
- I would find it cool to be able to select a shell (zsh...) while creating the first non-root user during the installation (in expert mode)

- Thanks for the painless, encrypted harddisk, network install :)

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
