Package: debian-installer Source:Taken from unstable svn I did a gui installation from the latest build cd.I took the debian-installer from svn unstable. The whole installation went well and the cd came out and at the finish of installation the system did not reboot by itself. It stoped at a white screen.I could not wait anymore and restarted manually and everything was fine.I got the grub and was able to boot into my new os. Next time I did the same in text mode and had no issues the system rebooted by itself and I landed in my new os. When I repeated the gui mode of installation to check something at the finish of installation.as soon as the white screen appeared i restarted the pc manually. And saw that grub did not get loaded properly It stopped at grub> then I entered into the new os by giving the partition and kernel name and initrd. second time when I rebooted showed no problem and the grub was loaded automatically I dont know how this time grub got loaded. What could be the reason of getting the white screen and how can I make it to reboot in gui mode. __________________________________________________________ Yahoo! India Answers: Share what you know. We are closing this installation report for one of the following reasons: - it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian Installer. - indications in the installation report give the feeling that the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to D-I, which we can't easily identify. - indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component - it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-) - it has no information we consider useful The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet. In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be still present, please reiterate your installation test with a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this. You'll find daily builds at http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to install "squeeze" when prompted. If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent against installation-reports. Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian, past and present.
