Package: installation-reports

Boot method: CD
Image version: I don't really know. It is an old installation disk that
I used success with on an U30 previously.
Date: 2/11/07 11PM GMT

Machine: Sun Ultra 60
Processor:It is a single 64 bit processor with about 300 MHZ. I don't
know where to find more information.
Memory:1.5GB

Partitions: I have no clue what the raw partition table is.
Filesystem Type 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on

/dev/sdb2 ext3 1370010 438797 858118 34% /var
I didn't use swap because I felt from experience that 1.5 GB memory is
enough.

Comments/Problems:

I did a previous install on a Sun U30 with the help of a friend who is
a Debian Guru. I installed Debian 3.1 on a Tatung Compstation 10 with
no problem. This time there was a problem. Every time I got to install
boot loader, I got an error statement telling me the boot loaded
wouldn't install. I finally gave up and decided to install anyway so I
continued past the boot loader error intending to read error messages.
Well, when I rebooted, it JUST WORKED!! Very frustrating thought. GRRRR!!!

I moved to Debian from Kubuntu when I got tired of all of the clutter.
I took of the training wheels. I'm using fvwm and working my way
through the set up. Great job!!!

I'm looking forward to the next testing so I can contribute more after
I get more experience in Linux. The SPARC port is wonderful! I found
some scrap Sun and Tatung machines and gave them life.

Maybe you could give a few more details about where to find some of
this stuff for newbies.

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
