Comments/Problems:
Installation went fine. I initially tried using the
daily build businesscard installer but the CD would
not boot.

The system is set up to dual boot windows and Debian.
I used the NT bootloader because it is needed to
preserve the function of the Thinkvantage button.
Before the install I resized the windows partition
using gpart from the sysresccd.

I started the installer in expert mode. All the
hardware checks went fine. We use DHCP and the
installer set that up correctly. I made a 100 MB /boot
partition and installed Grub on it. The rest of the
free space I used for / and swap. The first time I
went through the installation I marked the /boot
partition as Bootable, which, though I didn't realize
it at the time, made the NTFS partition not bootable.
Since it seems the IBM/NT bootloader only boots the
first partition, the whole system was unbootable. The
second time through I left the NTFS partition bootable
and it all worked fine.

I installed the 2.6.18-3 kernel.

Before finishing the installation I used
dd if=/dev/sda3 of=grub.mbr bs=512 count=1
to make a file grub.mbr from the /boot partition
I copyed this file to the windows partition and
pointed the NT bootloader at it to load Grub. Then
Grub loads Debian.

After these changes I rebooted the system and it came
up fine.
After reboot I did a distro upgrade to sid
I installed the fglrx drivers as well as the ipw3945
drivers and got them working. I did not test the vesa
drivers.
dmesg shows both CUPs , but after a line about the
trackpoint, I get a line with BUG:

IBM TrackPoint firmware: 0x0e, buttons: 3/3
input: TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint as /class/input/input3

I don't know what this is about but I'll try to figure
it out.

Bluetooth seems to work (ie. the LED turns on and off
using the Fn+F5 button) but I don't have any Bluetooth
devices so I haven't actually tested it. The sleep
(Fn+F4) seems to work and the system comes back up
after it wakes up. I havent really tested any of hte
other ACPI stuff.

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
