Comments/Problems:

<Description of the install, in prose, and any thoughts, comments
and ideas you had during the initial install.>

First install (didn't work):
I choosed default (pressed ENTER) every time
It started downloading Gnome and some other parts
X (TWM) started, but I couldn't start gnome or configure X (X -configure and /root/xorg.conf.new made it unusable)

So, here comes the second installation:
I choosed installgui
in the last option I disabled all options (gnome (Desktop Environment?) and some other part (Base system?))
apt-get install kde
downloading was interrupted, I used main local (Finland) ftp
I finally got it working with: apt-get install kde check

After initial install:
***************'
I couldn't get VIA driver working with X -configure, but dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg helped
****************
If I open pdf-file inside Konqueror and roll it, it makes the screen somehow distorted. Distorted image remains after I quit the application.Bug?
*****************
Problems with official documentation:

1.Kernel compiling
I'm using kernel.org's 2.6.18.1 kernel now. I tried to make new kernel according to official documentation, but didn't succeeded.

What helped was:
http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21 ,by Falko Timme

I haven't found the --initrd part in: fakeroot make-kpkg --initrd --revision=custom.1.0 kernel_image in the offial documentation and if I did the initrd-image afterwards, it didn't work (allthought it made an image in the right place).

2. Firewall script
I used /etc/init.d/myfirewall script described in documentation
After reboot I could't start X or login (had to pull-off the ethernet cable to stop firewall and get to X again)
I'm using now a simple firewall script from slackware, which works fine
******************

I hope this helps!

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
