Comments/Problems:
Hi,
I had to reinstall because XFS had eaten my /usr/lib dir (yes, the latest
kernel bug and I hope the installed debian kernel includes the fix).
When reading the latest stuff about WEP being totally useless, I am wondering
why wpasupplicant, the only way to use normal-secured WLANs today, is not even
on the first CD. I'd regret to have to download more than the first CD for
installation.
And it needs dhcp3-client. Why do we need two versions of the same dhcp-client
(v2 and v3), anyway?
The finest thing would be to be able to specify a firmware for the WLAN card
during installation (from floppy or USB stick as the CD is in use).
Since I installed from the first CD of a full CD set without being able to use
wireless LAN (needs firmware anyway), how is one supposed to configure apt
nicely for an FTP/HTTP repository access _after_ installation?
Previous versions of debian came with apt-setup in the base-config package.
Where did it go? Why is this not installed anymore? Any replacements?
I know how to setup /etc/apt/sources.list manually but apt-setup made it so
much easier.

Description: configures encrypted block devices
Since kernel 2.6.4, encrypted filesystem support is provided by the device
mapper target dm-crypt. This utility provides a command-line interface for
configuring this facility. It has integrated support for LUKS.
.
cryptsetup is backwards compatible with the on-disk format of cryptoloop,
but also supports more secure formats. This package also includes support
for automatically configuring encrypted devices at boot time via the config
file /etc/crypttab. When combined with newer versions of the debian
initrd-tools and standard debian kernels, cryptoroot is also supported.

.
Parted currently supports DOS, Mac, Sun, BSD, GPT, MIPS and
PC98 disklabels/partition tables, as well as a 'loop' (raw
disk) type which allows use on RAID/LVM. Filesystems which
are currently fully supported are ext2, ext3, fat (FAT16

Parted can also detect and remove HFS (Mac OS), JFS, NTFS,
UFS (Sun and HP), XFS and ASFS/AFFS/APFS (Amiga) filesystems,
but cannot create, resize or check these filesystems yet.
.
Note that ReiserFS support is only enabled if you install

removed from sarge, ReiserFS support is not compiled in the
default package.

This package contains the loop-AES loadable Linux kernel modules
compiled for kernel 2.6.16-2-486-di
.
loop-AES can be used to encrypt disk partitions, removable media,
swap space and other devices. It provides measures to strengthen
the encryption: Passphrase seeds, multiple hash iterations, MD5 IV
and use of alternating encryption keys.
.
Encryption keys can be stored in a GnuPG-encrypted keyfile, which
allows the passphrase to be changed without re-encryption. Keyfiles
can also be encrypted asymmetrically for multi-user access.
.
This package includes the cipher modules blowfish, twofish and
serpent in addition to the default cipher (AES).
.
If you compiled a custom kernel, you will most likely need to
compile a custom version of these modules as well. The package
loop-aes-source has been provided for this purpose.
