Comments/Problems:

Most serious problem... after reboot, i

1. the sources.list was no good. I had to edit
sources.list to point to debian.org etch.

2. /sbin/discover and lspci were not installed
in the base package.

Aggravating problems...

1. No gnome

2. No kde

3. No security updates

Overall comments:

I think you guys are great, and I can't wait for the AMD64
support to fill in some more, so I can use Debian to build
my cluster.

My goal is to build a cluster based on xCat and OpenSSI,
then have a global mount across the cluster of around
400GB with either GFS or Lustre.

Since my initial testing of the SSI cluster will involve
using transcode and ffmpeg, I just don't think Etch is
far enough along just yet.

Install logs and other status info is available in /var/log/debian-installer/.

Package: libparted1.6-udeb
Status: install ok installed
Priority: extra
Section: debian-installer
Installed-Size: 344
Maintainer: Parted Maintainer Team <parted-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org>
Version: 1.6.25.1-2
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.3.5-1), libuuid1
Provides: libparted1.6-13
Description: The GNU Parted disk partitioning shared library
GNU Parted is a program that allows you to create, destroy,
resize, move and copy hard disk partitions. This is useful
for creating space for new operating systems, reorganising
disk usage, and copying data to new hard disks. This package
contains the Parted binary and manual page.
 .
This package contains libparted, the required shared library
used by Parted. This is a cut-down package with no normal
documentation intended to be used in debian-installer.
 .
Parted currently supports DOS, Mac, Sun, BSD, GPT, MIPS and
PC98 disklabels/partition tables, as well as a 'loop' (raw
disk) type which allows use on RAID/LVM. Filesystems which
are currently fully supported are ext2, ext3, fat (FAT16
and FAT32), ReiserFS (with libreiserfs) and linux-swap.
Parted can also detect and remove HFS (Mac OS), JFS, NTFS,
UFS (Sun and HP), XFS and ASFS/AFFS/APFS (Amiga) filesystems,
but cannot create, resize or check these filesystems yet.
 .
Note that ReiserFS support is only enabled if you install
the libreiserfs0.3-0 package. Since libreiserfs0.3-0 has been
removed from sarge, ReiserFS support is not compiled in the
 default package.
 .
The nature of this software means that any bugs could cause
massive data loss. While there are no known bugs at the moment,
they could exist, so please back up all important files before
running it, and do so at your own risk.

Comments/Problems:

Most serious problem... after reboot, i

1. the sources.list was no good. I had to edit
sources.list to point to debian.org etch.

2. /sbin/discover and lspci were not installed
in the base package.

Aggravating problems...

1. No gnome

2. No kde

3. No security updates

Overall comments:

I think you guys are great, and I can't wait for the AMD64
support to fill in some more, so I can use Debian to build
my cluster.

My goal is to build a cluster based on xCat and OpenSSI,
then have a global mount across the cluster of around
400GB with either GFS or Lustre.

Since my initial testing of the SSI cluster will involve
using transcode and ffmpeg, I just don't think Etch is
far enough along just yet.

Install logs and other status info is available in /var/log/debian-installer/.

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
