Comments/Problems:

The install worked fine with libata.atapi_enable=1, but on initial
reboot, it could not mount the root file system; I presume this was due
to lack of SATA support in the stock kernel.

I compiled my own kernel on another machine, used a chroot from Knoppix
to install the resulting linux-image-2.6.16_* package, and then the
system was able to boot normally.

When the installation gets to the task selection step, it would be nice
if advanced users had more control. What I did was to unselect
everything and continue, then (after installing the working kernel) use
aptitude to select the packages I wanted. I would like a way, during
task selection, to be able to preview the actual packages that would be
installed, and then remove specific unwanted packages. If tasksel could
pre-seed aptitude with a list of package selections, that would be
perfect.

BTW, I used the gui install, and it looks very nice! Thanks!

...Marvin

UFS (Sun and HP), XFS and ASFS/AFFS/APFS (Amiga) filesystems,
but cannot create, resize or check these filesystems yet.

This package contains the loop-AES loadable Linux kernel modules
 compiled for kernel 2.6.16-1-486-di
 .
loop-AES can be used to encrypt disk partitions, removable media,
swap space and other devices. It provides measures to strengthen
the encryption: Passphrase seeds, multiple hash iterations, MD5 IV
and use of alternating encryption keys.
 .
Encryption keys can be stored in a GnuPG-encrypted keyfile, which
allows the passphrase to be changed without re-encryption. Keyfiles
can also be encrypted asymmetrically for multi-user access.
 .
This package includes the cipher modules blowfish, twofish and
serpent in addition to the default cipher (AES).
 .
If you compiled a custom kernel, you will most likely need to
compile a custom version of these modules as well. The package
loop-aes-source has been provided for this purpose.

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
