Comments/Problems:
Network card is Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet 88E8053, onboard
adapter. Driver should be sk98lin, but it did not work; the one included
in the kernel is outdated and does not recognize my card. So the
installer could not use the network; and the resulting base system had a
broken driver too. I had to switch to another distro (SUSE 10.0),
download some packages + the manufacturer driver, copy them from another
partition, recompile it and finally had net.

The file /etc/X11/xorg.conf automatically configured by
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg was broken; the image freezes in a few
seconds. Graphics card is ATI Radeon Xpress 200, with 64 MB of shared
memory. Driver selected automatically is "ati"; with "radeon" it still
fails.

<Description of the install, in prose, and any thoughts, comments
and ideas you had during the initial install.>
For some reason grub was not installed; anyway I did not feel like
writing a new menu.lst, so I used SUSE for that.
Installation of the new sk98lin driver was very hard; had to download
packages for linux-sources, linux-kernel-headers, gcc, cpp, binutils,
libc-dev... a real pain in the ass. Inclusion in new kernels of a new
version of the driver is really necessary.

I've never had debian correctly configure xfree86config or xorg.conf,
but it would be nice to see it for once. I don't need 3d acceleration,
but just the basics; my monitor is a Proview 17" TFT, and my card an
onboard ATI. Quite usual hardware, I think.

GNU Parted is a program that allows you to create, destroy,
resize, move and copy hard disk partitions. This is useful
for creating space for new operating systems, reorganising
disk usage, and copying data to new hard disks. This package
contains the Parted binary and manual page.
 .
This package contains libparted, the required shared library
used by Parted. This is a cut-down package with no normal
documentation intended to be used in debian-installer.
 .
Parted currently supports DOS, Mac, Sun, BSD, GPT, MIPS and
PC98 disklabels/partition tables, as well as a 'loop' (raw
disk) type which allows use on RAID/LVM. Filesystems which
are currently fully supported are ext2, ext3, fat (FAT16
and FAT32), ReiserFS (with libreiserfs) and linux-swap.
Parted can also detect and remove HFS (Mac OS), JFS, NTFS,
UFS (Sun and HP), XFS and ASFS/AFFS/APFS (Amiga) filesystems,
but cannot create, resize or check these filesystems yet.
 .
Note that ReiserFS support is only enabled if you install
the libreiserfs0.3-0 package. Since libreiserfs0.3-0 has been
removed from sarge, ReiserFS support is not compiled in the
 default package.

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
