Comments/Problems: Did not configure network for internet access. I had to modify the etc/network/interfaces file for dhcp access for the eth0 card which was recognized by the install
Did not configure the synaptics touchpad to recognize taps even though the install recognized it properly. Install also recognized the video card properly but then when xfree was installed it left it up to me to tell it what card I had. All these things should be able to be set up properly by the installation process. I know it can be because other distributions do so without me ever having to edit a config file.
After installing KDE, KDE was extremely slow in loading the desktop. I don't know what it was looking for but it took a long time to get past that point. All in all it was a miserable experience. I've been running debian for several years and needed to reinstall due to a problem. At this point things should be running a lot smoother when installing. Debian is running WAY behind other distributions. Even though I can, I should not have to be messing around with config files. I am too busy and just need to get the computer back up and running. I've tested some other distributions and they are still light years ahead in terms of installation.

and ideas you had during the initial install.>

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful
The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.
In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.
You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.
If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.
Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
