Install boot loader: [ ]
Reboot: [E]
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Comments/Problems:

Inserted CD in CDROM drive and booted from it: fine (actually work only if
I power-on the computer. Freezes while loading initrd.img on reboot).

Choose language: fine.

Detect Keyboard: fine.

Detect CDROM device and mount the CD in /cdrom: fine.

Load installer modules: can't see all choices because the first few lines
are too long; so I mis the first 3 choices; did not choose any, continued:
fine.

At this point the main menu grew to 21 items. The default action is now
"Configure network hardware". Skipped it as I want to install from the CD.

Partition hard drive: fine.

At this point, I created the filesystem from my old RedHat 9.0 system. Then
back to Debian installation.

Make swapspace: fine.

Mount partitions: fine.

Install the base system: do nothing and go back immediately to the main menu.
Default action is still "Configure network hardware".

Install the kernel: do nothing and go back immediately to the main menu.
Default action is still "Configure network hardware".

Finish the installation and reboot: do nothing and go back immediately to
the main menu.
Default action is still "Configure network hardware".

Verify CD content: fine.

Execute a shell: fine. Could see that the partitions were correctly
mounted.

At this point, there is nothing I can do to proceed. So I when to the
default action:

Configure network hardware: detected my 3c59x card, but failed to load the
module 3c59x: "modprobe: can't locate module 3c59x".

The only way out here is to either power-down the machine or go into the
shell and type halt or reboot.

So I'm stuck !!!

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
