Hi,
I tried to install debian sarge on my laptop, an Acer 4002 WLMi from an
cd rom, built from an image assembled with jigdo. Checksums are ok, and
I get the same error with different cd roms from diferent isos, and I
also tried with the sarge netinstall, and I got the same error.
I managed copy the base packages to my disc, and then rebooted my
computer, but then I got this:
Usbcore : registered new driver usbfs
usbcore: registered new driver hub
USB Universal Host Controller Interface Driver v2.2
And the process stops here, I have to push the reset button.
This happens with both 2.4 and 2.6 kernels.
I think it has to do with the USB kernel modules, because when I press
CTRL+C before this happens, causing the system to bypass "modprobes's",
I can get into the system, anyway this is unconfortable since I have to
do modprobe's myself!
I decided to install Woody and do "apt-get dist-upgrade" to upgrade to
testing and all went ok, I don't have this problem anymore, so I guess
the problem is in the base-installer package? I'm really not sure.
I also talked to several people that had the same laptop, and tried to
install sarge, and all of them got this problem, so I think it is
hardware specific?
