Debian-installer-version: Netboot-CD of m86k Sarge downloaded 18.10.2004 from 
a debian mirror in Germany
uname -a: Linux (none) 2.2.25-mac #1 Thu Mar 18 01:26:39 CET 2004 m68k unknown
Date: 2004-11-13, installation needed 4-5 hours
Method: Booted the Sarge Netboot-CD using kernel vmlinuz-2.25-mac and 
initrd.22 from the /cdrom directory. Kernel and ram disk were not from the 
netboot-cd but from S. Marenkas page. No network connection was used.
Machine: Mac IIci, etherlink/nb (nic), graphic card "supermac", cache card, 
internal hard disk,
connected to a SCSI-Tower including 2 CD drives, in one was the Netinstall CD
Processor: 25 Mhz
Memory: 32 MB
Root Device: SCSI. Before installation: /dev/sdb4. After installation 
(disconnected the SCSI tower) /dev/sda4
Root Size/partition table:
/dev/sda (hard disk)
/dev/sda1: Apple_partition_map
/dev/sda2: Apple_driver
/dev/sda3: Apple_HFS
/dev/sda4: Apple_UNIX_SVR2 (/)
/dev/sda5: Apple_UNIX_SVR2 (swap)

Output of lspci and lspci -n: (typing this in the console when using the 
installer says "lspci: not found")

Base System Installation Checklist:

Problems:
The installation did not finish correctly, there was an error with mounting or 
unmountig partitions. However, I switched to console used the "poweroff" 
command to shut down the Mac and unmount everything. After that I was able to 
boot using Penguin into the installed Linux .
I did not come to the part where to set the root password and create a user. 
When bootin in the new installed system the root password was nothing (just 
pressing the enter key). But when in the system, everything seems to be OK.

Comments:
I missed a man page for partman.
When reading README.html of the Netbood CD the links to "tools" is wrong (it 
goes to \tools and not to \install\tools).
The Mac graphic card runs in Linux without a problem. It is connected to pc 
monitor. Not having a mac monitor I did not remove it.

After having some strange installation problems, I have the feeling that
- the Linux root partition must be previous to the swap on the hard disk
- the order of the boot parameter in Penguin does matter.
Maybe I did not find this in the manual.

With no in-depth Linux and Mac experience I have to say: The Debian installer 
is great! It was much harder to install MacOS on the machine than Debian 
Linux afterwards.

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
  the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
  D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
  fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful


The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet. 

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.
