glibc 2.11 has introduced support for IFUNC symbols, which are basically
like FUNC ones, except the relocation is delayed, so that the run-time
can select between multiple versions of the implementation of a specific
function (e.g. optimized SSE version, etc.)

index is one of these IFUNC symbols, my guess is that mklibs should be
taught about such symbols.
