Bug#532840: cannot netinstall 'etch' with 'etch' installer

Package: installation-reports
Severity: normal

I cannot netinstall 'etch' with the 'etch' installer.

I am using a well-tested PXE boot setup, see eg #517644.

I selected suite=etch on the installer boot line.

I select ftp.au.debian.org as the mirror in the choose-mirror screen.

After that, according to the syslog,
 * The installer correctly pulls the Release file, and works out that
  'suite' should actually be 'oldstable'.
 * It then pulls the Release file again and works out that codename=etch.
So far so good.

Then it tries 'download-installer' and I get this failure
(transcribing from the console)

net-retriever: gpgv: WARNING multiple signatures detected. Only the first
will be checked.
net-retreiver: gpgv: Signature made Sat may 23 17:28:27 2009 UTC using
RSA key ID 55BE302B
net-retreiver: gpgv: Can't check signature: public key not found
net-retreiver: gpgv: error bad signature on
/tmp/net-retriever-3006-Release

The installer I am using has

  DISTRIB_RELEASE="4.0 (installer build 20070308etch3)"

in /etc/lsb-release

What solutions can you offer for this?
I would use the lenny installer, but for #517644...

Vince
