I have one fairly big reservation against this patch:

How are users supposed to know about this option?

I don't know how often this trick is needed, but I doubt users who need it 
will be able to find it. It would be much nicer if we could somehow 
display a dialog offering the alternative is mounting a CD fails.

Another minor point: the changelog for apt-setup should mention which new 
version of cdrom-detect is required.
