It's been added in D-I on request of the ppc64 porters, but we have not 
heard anything from them for the last 2-3 years. I've looked at the ppc64 
mailing list some time last year and to me it looked like the initiative 
was completely dead.

We've always made it clear that ppc64 would have to be maintained by the 
porters. This has not been done. I currently see no keep ppc64 support in 
D-I.
