I suppose that Debian GNOME maintainers pondered very carefully the dependencies of gnome-desktop-environment and, if they did put gnome-audio as a "Suggests" only, they probably have good reasons. So, maybe you want to talk about this with them but that bug can't be dealt with on D-I side.
