Comments/Problems:
The system cannot mount the root file system after install and 
boots into busybox.

I had to explicitely specify the root partition at the 
lilo prompt:
  Linux root=/dev/mapper/voyager-root
to boot into the system.

Running lilo (on an unmodified /etc/lilo.conf) makes the system bootable without the need
to specify the root partition (or anything else) at the lilo prompt.
