Package: debian-installer

Version: Lenny (tester)

The installer didn’t ask for a DNS and I was on a static IP network.  I had to vt2 and edit /etc/resolve.conf to get it to work.

Cheers

That is a customized version of the installer, not a standard Debian
Installer image.

Right, so the network is configured using DHCP and not statically.

The problem here is that your DHCP server (probably your router or some
DHCP provided by your provider) sets things to 68.105.228.13 and
68.105.228.14.
The error is clearly in your local network setup which provides incorrect
information, not in the installer. Therefore closing the report.
