I will contact the upstream kernel maintainer and ask if he's still interested in investigating this. If he is, he will probably contact you and may ask for additional info, to try a different kernel or possibly to try a new patch. All that should cause only very short downtime and pose no risk to the installed system. You are of course not required to cooperate with that, but doing so will very likely result in your hardware being better supported in the long run. I always consider options like 'pci=nomsi' workarounds. Generally they mean some feature or the hardware or driver gets disabled. So it's always better to be able to boot without them. Cheers, FJP
