I have changed the original dd for a much bigger one.
Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it
Initial boot: [E]
The machine stops with
code : bad EIP value
debian kernel panic not syncing : attempt to kill init
This machine is now installed with Fedora Core 3.
I want to change the distribution for a modern one but it's
very difficult.
Nothing works but DamnSmallLinux.
I would prefer a Debian distribution more adapted to my needs.
Sincerely yours.

That is a somewhat common issue, especially with older hardware, described
nicely here:
http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/GRUB#Error_18
Unfortunately AFAIK it is impossible for us to detect this situation and
thus to automatically create a /boot partition only if it is needed.

This sounds like you're seeing this problem after the first reboot after
the system has been installed. It also sounds more like a general kernel
issue than a problem in the installer or the installation.
In that case I'm afraid that we lack the manpower to help you solve it.
I suggest you try to get help for these issues on the debian-user or
debian-french mailing lists. Good luck getting these remaining issues
solved.
As the installation itself is now successful, I'm closing your report.
Thanks for following up.
Cheers,
FJP
