code : bad EIP value
debian kernel panic not syncing : attempt to kill init

It looks like an hardware problem. It might be triggered only with the
newer version of the kernel though.

Could you please ensure that your memory is fine (memtest86 should help)
and look for a possible BIOS upgrade?

Cheers,
Thank you really much for your answer.

This machine runs now :

1) with the ACPI BIOS 8.0 wich is the latest one possible
but is from 2000.
I have verified it on the samsung site.

2) with the kernel 2.6.12-2.3_legacy_FC3

I have tested the memory with memtest86
The memory seems OK (no error detected).

The only change, I have made on this machine, was to change the dd from
4Go to 100Go !

	Sincerely yours

PS : my machine works with a Live CD DSL (Damn Small Linux) which is currently distributed with an old kernel :
Linux kernel binary image for version 2.4.20
My goal is to be able to use this machine, with the possiblity to upgrade the packages and that is impossible with FC3.

PS : excuse me for my poor english; if you are french, you can answer me in french.
