In particular:

Usage: cmp [-l] [-s] FILE1 [FILE2]
Compares FILE1 vs stdin if FILE2 is not specified.
Options:
-l Write the byte numbers (decimal) and values (octal)
for all differing bytes
-s quiet mode - do not print
Please note that this means scripts on initrd with busybox-static will not
work, unless there are symlinks for all the comamnds, which the
busybox-static package doesn't facilitate at all, unfortunately.
