I'm trying to install Etch and everything goes fine until it tries to
configure taskselduring installation of the base system. It gets
to "configuring tasksel" and never finishes. This happens with
the net-install, the business-card installer and the official CD
installer.

Thanks

I was able to install Etch last night, finally. I think the problem
had something to do with the wacky HDD setup I'm using:

I have four hard drives: an 80Gb main disk (with separate partitions
for / and /home) and three 250Gb disks in a RAID-5 array (mounted at
/var). When I ran into the problem configuring tasksel I partitioned
the main drive but did not setup the RAID array - I was going to
assemble and mount the array after the install completed.

Last night I decided to try and setup the RAID array in the installer
and that (seemingly) caused the install to succeed.

Let me know if you want more information.
