Comments/Problems:

When I installed Debian 3.1 everything worked OK, but Debian 4.0 installer failed to boot without 'noapic' and 'nolapic' options.
Base system was installed successfully. After that, I tried to install desktop packages (net installation) and when the free space
on the partition was over the installer said that xserver-xorg could not be configured. It didn't say that all free space gone even
after this error, but I think that I should have been alerted about that before downloading 713 packages!!

That can happen. This is not an installer issue, but a kernel issue. 
Hopefully it will be fixed in future versions of the kernel. You may want 
to check if this issue is known on http://bugzilla.kernel.org/ for your 
hardware and, if not, report it there.

This is very strange as according to the information in your report your 
root partition was 19GB.
Also, the installer does check whether there is sufficient space and, if 
there is not, it will not select the task by default. How much space is 
required for tasks is also documented in the installation guide.
We are aware that the checks for available diskspace could be improved, 
but implementing that is not trivial.

As your installation was successful in general, I'm closing your report.
