The first install fails because of:
apt-install: Unpacking linux-image-2.6.17-2-686 (from .../linux-image-2.6.17-2-686_2.6.17-9_i386.deb) ...
apt-install: Ok, Aborting
apt-install: dpkg: error processing /cdrom//pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-image-2.6.17-2-686_2.6.17-9_i386.deb (--unpack):
apt-install: subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

Failures during unpacking are very serious. As you were using a netinst
CD I suspect there was an error burning or reading the CD.

The second install fails because of:
GPG error: http://security.debian.org etch/updates Release:
The following signatures couldn't be verified because the
public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY A70DAF536070D3A1

This issue has now been identified. See:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2007/02/msg00011.html

As the first issue is probably local and not structural and the second
is now a know issue, I'm closing your report.

Thanks for providing the additional information.

Cheers,
FJP
