That is odd as the daily builds of the installer already use that kernel 
and you said those failed...

Could you double check that please? You only need to run the installation 
as far as network configuration, so you don't need to overwrite your 
existing install: just abandon the installation before partitioning.

Please check output of dmesg if the installer still fails to recognize 
your nic.

This device should get automatically detected as needed tg3 if you use 
daily images.
