From these it appears that in the first installation there was no support for dmraid at all... The log for the second install is somewhat unreadable because of the DEBCONF_DEBUG=5 parameter. Please do not use that unless requested to do so. It also shows that dmraid udeb is not loaded at the point it should be (during disk-detect). Exactly what image are you using for these installations? Please give the _full_ URL of the image you downloaded. In your hardware summary I see 'umame -a: Linux d320g5 2.6.18-4-486', which means that you are _not_ using a *daily built* Lenny image [1], which currently are the only images that support dmraid.
