It seems that the postinst code currently chooses the right
arch for a kernel only if the kernel packages are named like:

kernel-image-(2.4|2.6)-(386|586tsc|686|k6|..)

For custom made CDs with a possible local pool, holding custom
kernels, it would be nice that the script recognises also names
like:

kernel-image-(2.4|2.6)-myflavour-(386|586tsc|686|k6|..)

A similar feature, and support for preseeding the kernel package to be
installed have been introduced in base-installer 1.83.
