Package: debootstrap
Version: 1.0.0
Severity: wishlist

Hi.

Most packages in the Debian archive depend/suggest/recommend on
deboostrap an no
t on cdebootstrap. Thus it is somewhat like the "default" bootstrapping
tool.
It should provide support for signed release files as cdebootstrap
does.
Or it should be replaced by cdebootstrap.

Best wishes,
Chris.

Where did you get the idea that it does not support checking the release
file sigs?

In you check its man page you will find:
   --keyring=KEYRING
Download signatures for retrieved Release files and check them
against KEYRING. By default, Release file signatures are not
          checked.

Closing your report. If there is anything concrete you are missing, feel
feel to reply to this mail and we can consider reopening it.

Cheers,
FJP
