Currently the list of languages is diplayed via the generic handler for single SELECT questions, which simply left-aligns text and uses variable width fonts. Translated language names are hence left vertically unaligned: to get that one should write a specific plugin for debconf/language

This is a general issue, not one that affects only the language selection. 
We hope to solve it at some point.

As the issue is already documented on [1] and as it is not an issue in 
localechooser itself, there is no real reason to keep this report open. 
So I'm closing it.
