Bug#420255: Partman does not use free space to create partition

Package: installation-reports

Date: 20-Apr-2007

Machine: DELL, Inspiron 8600
Processor: Pentium M, 1.7 GHz
Memory: 1GB

Primary 567.5 MB B fat32
Unused space 8 GB 37.6 GB
Primary 15.6 GB ntfs
Logical 26.3 GB ntfs

Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Steps / observations
1. Partman displayed my hard disk correctly.
2. I have chosen a manual partitioning.
3. Partman displayed my current partitioning.
4. I created successfully a partition in the unused space: primary 8 GB,
ext3 on /
5. Partman did not allow to create an other partition (for swap) in the rest
of the unused space.

I suspect partman is unable to create a logical partition in the free space
(in that particular situation).
(Having a good bunch of RAM, that does not hurt me to much).
