Comments/Problems:

When installing 1st on each disk SWAP and second RAID 1
this is tricky if you go back or restart, than you have to delete any existing RAID MD Devices
or you are not able to write or change someting on RAID (Error Informing Kernel about changes)
-> an hint to do so would help :-)

After installing Grub installs errorfree BUT is *NOT* written to MBR and the System is NOT booting (unless you have an old Lilo on that disk, pointing to an kernel 2.6.18 like me)

I've tried:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb

Manual Install Partitions:
Disk1
Primary partition 1 SWAP
Primary partition 2 RAID1/EXT3 /
Disk2
Primary partition 1 SWAP
Primary partition 2 RAID1/EXT3 /
-----------
Disk1
Primary partition 2 RAID1/EXT3 /
extended partition 5 SWAP
Disk2
Primary partition 2 RAID1/EXT3 /
extended partition 5 SWAP
-----------
Disk1
Primary partition 1 RAID1/EXT3 /
no swap
Disk2
Primary partition 1 RAID1/EXT3 /
no swap

in all situations grub installs errorfree in MBR but didn't Boot :-(

Also after this i've tried a manual partitioning on both disk witout raid (just swap/ext3 created on both, using /dev/sda2 as / only) Grub install fails here too.

Workaround:
-Disconnecting one Disk (maybe not need to)
-Install each disk Stanallone with autopartion-disk, grub and test Boot,
-reinstall System with RAID1 (Grub is already there and should work)

I keep the swap-Partitions, delete the 2 ext3-partitions, create the Raid-partions and md device.
and did a newinstall
This worked fine for me.

My First install was in vmware where i first installed on one disk - saw the raid-menu - and reinstalled sucessfully with a second disk with grub and Raid1
(but i forgot to create swap)
I think grub installs to (HD0) wich is the MBR of the MD0 device but has to install on /dev/sda (and /dev/sdb too)
