Comments/Problems:

No problems with the install. Everything worked flawlessly.

I tested an account transition using a backup of my primary account. On
a freshly installed etch I unpacked my account home directory in place
of the install generated one. After I installed a small number of
additional packages that I use daily I was up and running without any
complications. This is by far the smoothest user transition I have ever
experienced.

GREAT WORK!!!

However, "the Debian way" is upgrading, not reinstalling ;-)
In some cases a fresh install can make sense though.

Thank you very much for your report. As there were no issues, I am closing
it.

Cheers,
