Package: installation-reports

Boot method: <How did you boot the installer? CD? floppy? network?>
Image version: <Full URL to image you downloaded is best>
Date: <Date and time of the install>2007-03-14 1600

Machine: <Description of machine (eg, IBM Thinkpad R32)> Assembled from components
Processor:AMD64
Memory:2 GB
Partitions: <df -Tl will do; the raw partition table is preferred> Attachment dfTl

Output of lspci -nn and lspci -vnn: Attachments lspcinn and lspcivnn

Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Initial boot: [O] Booted to a USB Lextar 4 GB Jump Drive
Detect network card: [O]
Configure network: [O]
Detect CD: [O]
Load installer modules: [O]
Detect hard drives: [O] For installation hard drive I used the USB Lextar 4 GB Jump Drive
Partition hard drives: [E] Single / partition + swap. Formatting / as ext2 failed. Trapped in loop
Install base system: [ ]
Clock/timezone setup: [ ]
User/password setup: [ ]
Install tasks: [ ]
Install boot loader: [ ]
Overall install: [ ]

Comments/Problems: When ext2 format fails installation loops back to partition. The only escape is ctrl-alt-del.
This left the jump drive unusable, exited the hdb partitions (Debian Etch with 2.6.18 kernel) without closing and
damaged the MBR on hda. I was able to recover by booting from a grml-0.9 CD, editing lilo.conf and running lilo
<Description of the install, in prose, and any thoughts, comments
and ideas you had during the initial install.>
Everything went like clockwork until the ext2 format failed.
