When I just now tested d-i rc1 on a new laptop, where I had to turn
off the machine to stop the windows installer (Alt-Ctrl-Del didn't
work), I ran into a problem with the NTFS resizer.

I wanted to shrink the NTFS file system, and selected this option from
the partman menu. Without any errors, warnings or any messages at
all, the partitioning system returned back to the menu without doing
any resize. I had a look at the log in tty4, and discovered there a
message from the ntfs resizer program that it was unable to do
anything because the file system was unclean.

It would have saved me some time and confusion if this message about
the unclean state of the ntfs file system was presented to me using
some debconf warning instead of just failing quietly as seen from the
installer gui.

Friendly,

This has been fixed in current versions of the installer for Etch.
