If you can still run ps, it does not hang completely.
If you have another system that is connected to the one you are 
installing, you can also start the web browser option in "safe debug 
logs" _before_ you come to the point where the installer hangs. Then you 
can view and save the logs using a webbrowser on the other system.

Why don't you just provide us with the information of the processes that 
are running? We probably _do_ know what we are looking for. The last 10 
lines or so should be enough.

No. If it were waiting for input that would be shown in the log.

If the webbrowser option does not work, can you copy the syslog to a USB 
stick or floppy? If you can, please send it to us (gzipped).
