Comments/Problems:
The "ip" command is broken, as when I try to run
ip link set eth0 address 00:01:02:03:04:05
it gives me the error message:
either "dev" is a duplicate, or "address" is a garbage
Moreover, the netinst CD does not include ethtool or mii-tool, so
apparently I can't fix the fact that my ethernet card is not correctly
autodetecting the link speed. No, I haven't gotten this installed yet
