Could the information at
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/SataAtapiHowto be added to the
manual? I'm suggesting as a new section under 5.3. Something like:

5.3.x SATA ATAPI optical drive detection

The kernel shipped with Debian does not detect SATA ATAPI devices such
as optical drives by default. If you have such a device, use the kernel
parameter 'libata.atapi_enabled=1' and your drive should be detected.

(This bug is tracked at <http://bugs.debian.org/326004>)

That information is obsolete. The kernel that D-I will use when Etch is
released does not need that anymore. It is already not needed for daily
built images.
