This patch looks a lot better. It is still possible for me to get a "wrong" cursor, especially by moving the cursor in or out of a text box using a very fast motion ("jerking" it downwards). However, I feel this patch gives enough improvement to apply it. The patch introduces one regression though that needs to be fixed first. Could you take a look at why g-i crashes all the time if you are not on VT5? It seems to happen a lot more often now than it used to.
