Bug#403895: installation-report: Fails to detect SCSI CD-ROM
Package: installation-reports
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
Trying to install Etch RC1 snapshot on an itanium RX7620 box
fails CD-ROM detection phase.
The CD-ROM on this thing is NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD, which is a SCSI
drive that requires sym53c8xx.ko module. This module is available
in the scsi-common-modules-2.6.17-2-itanium-di_1.10_ia64.udeb package,
but that packages has not been pulled in yet, as evidenced by
the contents of /lib/modules/2.6.17-2-itanium/kernel/drivers/scsi:
3w-9xxx.ko lpfc scsi_transport_sas.ko
3w-xxxx.ko megaraid scsi_transport_spi.ko
aacraid megaraid.ko sd_mod.ko
aic7xxx_old.ko osst.ko sg.ko
atp870u.ko ppa.ko sr_mod.ko
dmx3191d.ko qla1280.ko st.ko
imm.ko qla2xxx tmscsim.ko
initio.ko scsi_mod.ko
ips.ko scsi_transport_fc.ko
Installation can not proceed at this point.
