Bug#401685: vesa fb fails on Virge DX2/GX

FYI, today i booted the patched g-i [1] image on an old PII, 128 Mb ram, 
Virge DX2: vesafb failed to start and i was prompted to enter a 
different vido mode (textual only), but the patch succeeded in falling 
back to NEWT frontend.
