Re: Corrupt dpkg database? No kernels found

For the first time since the daily build dated 2006-11-28, something
different happened during the installation. On the first attempt of
using the daily build image dated 2006-12-02, the installer could not
find any kernel packages for the system. On the second attempt, the
installer stalled at "71% Updating the list of available packages". The
first symptom could suggest a networking problem like #401435 that
Frans pointed out. The second message occurs (I think) when apt-get
creates pkgcache.bin and srcpkgcache.bin. It looks like apt got stuck
creating srcpkgcache.bin:

~ # ls -l /target/var/cache/apt
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 12288 Dec 4 03:09 archives
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 12582912 Dec 4 03:23 pkgcache.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6422934 Dec 4 03:23 srcpkgcache.bin

Here are the last few messages from the log file for the second run:

Next, I'll try out Frans's suggestion of disabling the TCP window
scaling early in the install. Maybe all of these problems are due to
networking issues.
