Re: ethernet MAC adr. setting not in latest debian-installer (etch)

during installation

ifconfig eth0 hw ether <mac> doesnt work, but it works if etch is installed.
here in austria u need for cable modems to set the mac to use it.
it would be great if there is a question during installation to set the mac.
this might help many people to use the net-iso.

I think the original poster is try to saying that installing
with the net-iso behind an Austrian cable modem was not possible.
I miss what the O.P. actual wants that we, this mailinglist, do.

in sarge it was possible to set the mac address during installation.
in etch it is not possible any more. so we lost a feature. it would be
good to have a way of setting the mac address during installation.

Thing I what to say is that ifconfig in debian-installer is not
the same as in the installed system.

ok, so with the version of ifconfig in debian-installer it is not
possible to set the mac address any more. is there any other way to
set the mac address during installation?
thx
mike
