Comments/Problems:
Installer was unable to find the CD drive. This has to do with the fact
that the driver for the marvell parallel ide is apparently broken under
kernel 2.6.17. The serial ATA seems to work fine, but my CD drive is
PATA. I have seen suggestions in various places that it is fixed in
kernel 2.6.18 but do have not tested this yet.
I also tried the amd64 sarge-custom-1012.iso image from
http://kmuto.jp/debian/d-i/ and had the same error, although some people
at http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?p=36109 reported success with
various images at that site. They apparently address problems other
than the Marvell controller.
Additionally, I tried installing from ubuntu-6.10-server-amd64.iso
downloaded the same day. It failed in the same manner.
