You are supposed to make sure your environment is "clean" and working when using preseeding. When an error occurs during a preseeded install, the only method to "recover" that is guaranteed to work is: abort the install, fix the error and retry. However, in this case I guess we could "reset" the questions in case of an error so that they will be asked and current values can be changed. This is a low priority issue though.
