Unfortunately this was an error in the Beta 3 release that was discovered
just after your last messages. It is now listed in the errata for IA64 on
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/errata
The workaround listed there [1] may not work. Dann tested it and said it
did not, but I'm not sure why it should fail. I'm about to remove it.
The problem should now also be solved in the daily built images for IA64.
Please let us know if the daily images do indeed work now.

the installer: base-installer/kernel/linux/initramfs-2.6=true
