Comments/Problems:

Partitioning the hard drives actually went smoothly, accept that there
was a long period of time in which the installer felt hung. I was
left with an empty blue screen for what seemed like over a minute.

I switched to a vt, and it appeared that the following command was
what was running:

 /sbin/tune2fs -j /dev/mapper/Debian-home

Note that /dev/mapper/Debian-home is a 814G partition.
